My favorite hurricane message from NYC was while driving towards the Verrazano en route to Brooklyn.  A sign over the freeway read “Expect Delays - Take Mass Transit!”  a) Mass transit wasn’t running.  b) Should I just ditch my car right here?  It’s a little too late for that decision.
